About

Platform and data engineering, built for scale.

I'm a software engineer from Monterrey, Mexico, now based in Greater Austin, TX. Today I'm a Senior Consulting Engineer at Psyncopate, working on the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform. Over four years at Disney, through April 2026, I built the Cost Visibility Platform from scratch — which gave hundreds of engineering teams real-time visibility into multi-billion dollar cloud and observability spend across AWS, Datadog, Kubernetes, and several other vendors. I owned the full stack: Databricks ETL pipelines processing billions of records, a FastAPI service layer with sub-second response times, and React dashboards adopted across internal portals. In the final stretch there I integrated LLM-powered diagnostics — systems that explain cost anomalies in natural language, which reduced the need for manual triage.

Before Disney, I went deep on infrastructure-as-code. I authored four official Terraform providers in Go — MongoDB Atlas, Nutanix, Outscale, and AzureStack — and was recognized by HashiCorp as a Core Contributor in 2019. The MongoDB Atlas provider alone has since surpassed 64 million installs. I also led the migration of hundreds of on-premise databases to AWS managed services, with IaC patterns adopted across thousands of services in the Hulu and Disney Streaming ecosystem.

I graduated first in my generation at UANL (94.44/100), started my career winning an international game dev competition in Spain, and have been shipping production platform and data systems at scale ever since.

Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology — Data, Platform & Cloud (Cost Visibility)

Built Disney Streaming's Cost Visibility Platform from scratch — the first unified view of cloud spend across a multi-billion dollar infrastructure org. The platform served hundreds of engineering teams and processed billions of records of cost and telemetry data daily across cloud, streaming, and container platforms.

I owned the full stack: PySpark and Delta Lake pipelines in Databricks, FastAPI microservices, Kubernetes deployments, and React + TypeScript dashboards that gave engineering leaders financial clarity at enterprise scale. Later in the role I built LLM-powered diagnostics that surfaced cost anomalies and answered infrastructure questions in plain language — moving from static reports to intelligent systems.

Jan 2022 – Oct 2023 · Remote, Greater Austin TX
Led Hulu's on-prem to cloud migration, moving hundreds of databases to AWS managed services (RDS, ElastiCache, DynamoDB, DocumentDB), eliminating legacy infrastructure and reducing operational overhead across the org. Owned 10+ Terraform modules for AWS managed database services, adding multi-AZ configurations, global DynamoDB table support, major version upgrade flows for ElastiCache Redis, and AWS Provider 5.0.0 compatibility. Established IaC patterns adopted across thousands of services, standardizing cloud provisioning and enabling self-service infrastructure management by product engineering teams. Built ECS-based Datadog agent integration for Aurora MySQL and PostgreSQL native metrics collection, strengthening observability across the database fleet.

This is where I went deep on infrastructure-as-code. I created four official open-source Terraform providers — for MongoDB, Nutanix, Outscale, and AzureStack — now used by hundreds of organizations globally. The MongoDB Atlas Terraform Provider alone has exceeded 64 million cumulative downloads.

I led the migration of hundreds of on-premise databases to AWS, building reusable Terraform modules adopted across thousands of enterprise streaming services. In 2019, HashiCorp recognized me as a Core Contributor for significant contributions to the Terraform ecosystem.

Ecaresoft · BBXM Studios / Naranya
Oct 2016 – Apr 2018 · Monterrey
Started my career across two verticals: HealthTech and telecom/digital media. At Ecaresoft, I built clinical and hospital management software used across Latin America — my first exposure to systems where reliability has real consequences. At BBXM Studios / Naranya, I shipped fullstack applications in the telecom space, learning to iterate fast and think about end users from day one.

What I build.

Products I designed, built, and run myself — one in production, one in the open. Both are live; click through and look.

Clarys

Health platform · Built and operated end to end
In production

A production health platform I designed, built, and run myself. It spans a patient app where people follow their own lab history and protocols, a doctor portal where clinicians review and validate lab results, an admin console for day-to-day operations, and a versioned API backend that all three surfaces are built on.

A command-line client for the Hevy workout API: read and manage workouts, routines, and exercise templates straight from the terminal. Typed end to end with pydantic v2, with retries and structured logging so scripted use fails loudly instead of silently.

Testimonials

What people say.

From colleagues who've seen the work up close.

"The Terraform modules were adopted across more than 4,000 services within a major streaming & media ecosystem… His work also included the standardization of cloud tagging and governance practices… Mr. Marin has demonstrated a consistent ability to design and implement practical solutions related to infrastructure automation and cloud observability."

Jonathan L.

Senior Database Engineer · 26 years experience

"The sustained use of these integrations is reflected in the widespread adoption of the MongoDB Atlas Terraform Provider, which has exceeded 64 million cumulative downloads on the Terraform Registry. The automation patterns he implemented fit naturally into existing infrastructure workflows, which made them easier for enterprise teams to adopt and operate in production."
